Turning scattered reports into progress-monitoring systems

Data analysis, project monitoring and stock-management applications for three public-sector organisations in the Uva Province.

01The challenge

The Ministry of Health in the Uva Provincial Council held monthly progress meetings, but the data behind them arrived as Excel files and other flat sources that had to be gathered and analysed by hand.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board in Badulla needed to track development-project milestones, spot delays early and allocate resources to keep work on schedule.

The Provincial Director’s (Mechanical) Office needed better control over the procurement, storage and distribution of supplies.

02Our approach

Each system was built around one organisation’s specific reporting or operational need, rather than a generic product.

For the Ministry of Health, existing data in Excel and other flat files is ingested directly, so teams did not have to abandon the formats they already used.

03The solution

  • Ministry of Health: an application that collects data from Excel and other sources, analyses it and generates reports for monthly progress meetings.
  • Water Supply & Drainage Board: a progress-monitoring application for tracking project milestones, delays and issues.
  • Mechanical Office: a process and stock-management system covering procurement, storage and distribution.

04Capabilities

  • Data consolidation
  • Reporting & analytics
  • Project monitoring
  • Inventory management
  • Public-sector delivery

05The outcome

  • The Ministry of Health’s monthly progress meetings are supported by generated analysis and reports.
  • The Water Board can track milestones and identify delays, and the Mechanical Office can monitor procurement, storage and distribution — each from a single system.
