01The challenge
Omi is a four-player, partnership trick-taking card game deeply rooted in Sri Lankan culture. The aim was a digital version without a foreign look and feel — one that stayed true to the rules and spirit of the game people grew up with.
It also had to work as a modern mobile game: playable with friends anywhere, engaging enough to keep players returning, and sustainable to run.
02Our approach
The game began as a web version. Player feedback prompted the move to mobile, where the team rebuilt the experience for Android and iOS.
Rules, card design and atmosphere were crafted so that any player could feel the Sri Lankan culture inside the game, rather than a foreign reskin of a generic card game.
Since launch the game has been run as a live product, with regular updates informed by player reviews.
03The solution
- Online multiplayer matching players with friends or opponents around the world.
- Built-in real-time voice chat, so partners can talk tactics as they would at a real table.
- Single-player and offline modes for practice and play without a connection.
- Ad mediation across several networks and in-app purchases, integrated without interrupting play.

05The outcome

- The same team has since released further titles under CeyGames, including the card game Buru Gahamu (100,000+ Google Play downloads).
